All CAVIC network members have now been invited to become also “Cavicblog” members

I’m very pleased to announce that all the present CAVIC members (PhD students, group leaders etc.) have now received a personal email-invitation to become members of this Cavicblog. Hopefully we will together create an active community and start working with future CAVIC activities.

For blog administrators only: Instructions for adding a blog member

Instructions for adding a blog member (for administrators only!)

The simplest way to do it (one by one):

1) log in to our “cavicblog”

2) go to “My dashboards” (upper left corner)

3) in dashboard there is a section named “Users” (left hand column, quite down there)

4) in “Users” there is the opportunity to invite people: “Invites”

5) in “Invites” you don’t have to fill in anything else than the e-mail (if you don’t want to)

6) as a “Personal Message” – well,  you may write anything you want to

7) then put cross to both boxes (boxes: “add to my blogroll after sign-up” + “add user to my blog as a contributor”)

8)  click “Sent Invite”

9) Done!

I find this as the easiest way – it can be done in many other ways too.

Just what suits best for you

So many visitors for this blog yesterday – the situation looks nice indeed!

I just keep on writing some brief & silly news before new authors will appear and produce more informative content

So let me tell you that yesterday this blog was viewed  - over ninety times!

Isn’t that great?! Wow, good for us all.

All the other members must be reached later one and any of you can help by spreading the news about this blog.

The CAVIC-blog has finally started !

Where ever you go, you’ll find it from the address:

At the moment there are 5 mainpages called: Home, About the network & blog, Activities, CAVIC groups, Contacts.

(and several so called sub-pages under these “main”pages)

I created those pages just by the facts that I knew, but everything (I mean: EVERYTHING) in the blog can be changed anytime and by any of the administrators.

I copy-pasted some of the general information from the previous & official Cavic-pages. I assumed that the purpose of this blog is mainly (informal)discussion and knowledge building, so that’s why the blogging page (Home) is the first page to appear.

It depends from the users/participants how the discussions should be built up. What kind of structure serves best our purposes -  I don’t know yet. That’s why blog writers/participants can create new things in blog and change already existing things. I put this up but I need the feedback & participation to make things work out

Learning by doing is the best way.

Fortunately the wordpress-blog is really simple to use.

I try to help as much as I can, but unfortunately I can’t be used as service/helpdesk. On the other hand: WordPress has a very good helpdesk that can help you out with most of the problems. They have also excellent FAQ-pages and ready made advices for the most commonly used functions. Seek for more information here: http://fi.wordpress.com/
